About the event
Join us for a weekend of commemorative history, community, and family fun at the barbershop! A two-day affair featuring a half-day bus tour, documentary premiere, new art, and educational resources.
The history that unfolded on the 12th block of Chicon went on to inspire and nurture generations of talent and success. Emerging from Austin’s historic Freedom colonies, the first Black business owners here built the foundations of East Austin
FRIDAY- Documentary Premiere at the Carver Museum
Produced by Austin’s own, Funmi Ogunro, Ideal Barbershop’s history, on film. Join us for the documentary screening, followed by a panel and Q&A.
SATURDAY- Bus Tour, WYAT?! Collaboration & Heritage Celebration
